Writing
The Writing Lab is designed to assist all currently enrolled HFCC students with writing. The lab is intended not only for students enrolled in English writing courses, but also for any HFCC student, part-time or full-time. Students who want guaranteed time with a writing lab instructor must enroll in ENG 086 at the start of the semester. Enrollment is open until the start of 12-week classes for the fall and winter semesters to accommodate 12-week English classes that may run concurrent to ENG 086. Limited sections of ENG 086 are also offered in the spring and summer.
Writing Lab instructors will discuss assignments, highlight patterns of errors, and model some corrections. We will provide as much assistance with your writing as time allows.

| WriteCheck |
WriteCheck uses the power of Turnitin to supply students with a report that highlights text matches found in Turnitin's extensive database. Students can easily verify that those sections are properly quoted, summarized or paraphrased with citations without worrying that their paper will be recycled without their knowledge. To avoid paying a fee, students must request the class ID number and class enrollment password from their writing instructor to log into Turnitin. Once logged into Turnitin, students should click the "WriteCheck" icon. Writing instructors can obtain login information by contacting the Writing Lab Liaison, Prof. Mike Hill at: mdhill1@hfcc.edu |
